Today was a fantastic day for iPhone with developers from across the world meeting and networking. Here in Colorado at the ID345 co-working space a fantastic group of speakers shared their wisdom on a variety of topics. Brent Simmons discussed NetNewsWire, Bill Dudney talked about CoreAnimation on OS X, and Patern Making, CO. discussed their fantastic game, RADIUS. We presented our iNetwork Test Native Edition and discussed the previous Web App version. All in all an excellent day!

iNetworkTest.com has been refactored. The web application for iPhone has been moved to http://www.inetworktest.com/iphone_content. The main site now utilizes IP geo lookup to plot results on Google Maps.



Users can also create their own accounts and store their results to be plotted on a custom map. This improved platform was designed to allow for new Mobile Network Testing applications on the iPhone and Android platform. These new applications will be more accurate and work at the lowest possible level of the software stack as allowed by the various SDKs.

Apple, Inc. announced and has made available a Software Development Kit for the iPhone. The excitement in the Mac/Mobile development community was best summarized by long time developer and friend Buzz Andersen:

"I don't think we've seen such entrepreneurial enthusiasm for 'native' apps since, what, the 80s?"

Xcellent Creations, Inc. has the SDK in hand and will be porting its popular iPhone Web Application, iNetworkTest, to run natively on the iPhone. We have many ideas on how to improve our web application to deliver more accurate Network Test results and an improved interface. Stay tuned for screenshots from our beta.

A while back a friend of the companies approached us about getting a site online for the Arapahoe Rescue Patrol.

The Arapahoe Rescue Patrol is a search and rescue team based in Arapahoe County, Colorado. Composed entirely of young adults currently in high school, the members of the Patrol have provided "free search, rescue, and emergency services for the citizens of Colorado's front range and throughout all of Colorado" since 1957.

In 2001 I sat down with a good friend to start a company. Our aim was to produce affordable websites and provide hosting to small businesses. My friend had other interests and moved on, but I kept the name around and for the last 7 years have done work under the moniker from time to time. On January 15, 2008 I formalized the business further as a Corporation in the State of Colorado, and will be pursuing it full time.

Xcellent Creations, Inc. core business will continue to be affordable web application development for small businesses. In addition we will be providing consultative services on topics such as hosting infrastructure and Internet marketing. As an early adopter of Ruby based web frameworks, Xcellent Creations, Inc. is in a unique position to guide the growing number of companies adopting these technologies. Development of mobile technology, specifically iPhone focused, will also continue. The success of our iNetwork Test iPhone web application has shown great revenue potential for the iPhone platform and opened up some unique marketing opportunities.

Danielle will be coming on full time to lead our video editing and graphical design initiatives. This will create even more value for our customers as we will be a one stop shop. Services on this side will include video production for Internet, DVD, and Television.

2008 will be an exciting year for sure, and I would like to personally thank all of the companies and customers who have made this transition possible.

Today Sun Microsystems announced that they will be acquiring MySQL AB, makers of the open source MySQL database. This is a great announcement for those two companies as well as Xcellent Creations and its customers. MySQL is the backbone of all Xcellent Creations web application and other solutions. Congratulations MySQL!

iNetworkTest.com, the first iPhone application produced by Xcellent Creations, has been added to the Apple.com Web Application directory for iPhone. We are excited that Apple has chosen to recognize our application and have had a flood of visitors as a result.
